Girls safety in Delhi University

I have applied for journalism course in Delhi University and most possibly will be moving to Delhi. I know Delhi is just like any other Metro city on this planet with broad minded and well cultured people but still I have a question in back of my mind that how safe Delhi University is?

Is there anything specific I should take care of or anything which I should not be doing during my stay in University.

Looking forward for some real good time in India :)
