I am in Delhi from 9th Feb to 16th Feb and it would be my first trip to this city. Can you suggest me some of the must see markets and places in and around Delhi. I am looking for some North Indian clothes, handicrafts and maybe some must eat food joints. Till now I am enjoying my stay in Mumbai and looking forward to catch some memorable moments in Delhi too.
Clothes as in traditional clothes? If thats what you mean I don't know what that would consist but you can have some good Indian food at Delhi Haat (near INA market) where you can get all sorts of street foods from different parts of India and the place is well kept and you can also buy handicrafts there but make sure you bargain and start with 50% of what they ask for.
If you are looking for good restaurants then Cannaught place would be a good place where there's a restaurant called "The Host" not too costly and food is exceptionally good. If you are willing to shell out a little extra then Bukhara at the Maurya sheraton near Dhaula kuan serves some wonderful North-west frontier cuisine (Almost Indian). There are lots of eating places across the city so it would help if you know which part of the city you would be staying then I can suggest you some good ones nearby.

INA Market (for daily needs)
Sarojini Market (for clothes and window shopping)
Khaari baoli (for spices)
Chandni Chowk (for food and antiques)
Paharganj (good for nothing)
If you people are gone to delhi then you have to see the several places .The market of the nation capital is very huge where as you can get any item in it. The markets are Delhi haat,chandni chowk, sarojini market.
Gaffar Market in Delhi is renowned as mobile market of Asia.
Yes Gaffar Market is good to buy used/second hand mobile phone but otherwise its over crowded I think.. Karol Bagh is another spot where one can enjoy shopping and good food (taste of Delhi :p)Quote:

3. Khan Market
This is small U-shaped market. One of the best things about this market is its interesting book shops. For Ayurvedic food, medicine and skin care check out Biotique, and Khadi.
Emplacement: It is situated at South New Delhi, not far from India Gate.
Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays.
What to Buy: Books, music, branded and tailored clothes, Ayurvedic food etc.
4. Chandni Chowk
The shopping district of Chandni Chowk has been in existence for hundreds of years and an exploration of its winding, narrow alleyways is certainly an adventure.
Emplacement: Old Delhi
Opening Hours: Daily except Sundays.
What to Buy: abrics, jewelry, and electronic goods.
5. Lajpat Nagar
It's one of the oldest markets in India and is abuzz with middle class Indian shoppers.
Emplacement: outh New Delhi, near Defence Colony
Opening Hours: Daily except Mondays.
What to Buy: ndian clothing, shoes, bags, accessories & home furnishings.
6. Sarojini Nagar
Sarojini Nagar is most famous for its really cheap designer clothes and reputable brands.
Emplacement: South West Delhi, near Safdarjung Airport.
Opening Hours: Daily except Mondays.
What to Buy: Designer clothes, Indian clothes, fashion accessories, shoes.
There is a fair every year in September-October every year at Suraj Kund where you would find lots of traditional handicraft and traditional clothes and what not. It is a good place to spend your day or even 2-3 days in a row as the setting is rural and peaceful and you can even stay there at the Guest house that is run by ITDC (or was run by itdc) There is a resturant run by Ashoka where they have some quality food and there are some small trails where you could go walking in the mornings if you do decide to stay a few nights. The kund or pond isint much to talk about but when it has good amount of water it looks good.
