    India's Coral Islands

The Amindivi group islands and the Laccadive group islands , together with Minicoy Island form the Coral Islands of India in the Arabian Sea. All these islands have been built up by corals and have fringing coral reefs very close to their shores.

Lakshadweep as we know it now, was formerly known as the Laccadive, Minicoy, and Amindivi Islands, a group of islands 200 to 440 km off the coast of the South West Indian state of Kerala.

Lakshadweep is known for its isolation and scenic appeal. Bangaram is one of the destinations for tourists. Lakshadweep is rich in marine fauna which is a wonderful treat for the visitors. Water sports activities such as scuba diving, wind surfing, water skiing, yachting etc and night-voyage into sea are adventurous as well as quite popular activities among tourists. One can visit these islands anytime of the year except during the South-west monsoon months when sea is extremely rough.

I visited Lakshdeep in year 2008 and it was totally out of the world experience, due to weather conditions we had to extend our stay there for 2 days and I really enjoyed every moment. Its one of the must go place in India but before you plan your trip to Lakshdeep remember not to expect all the luxury down there beach side huts are best to stay but got very few options for veggie people.
