    Gwalior's existence is traced back to 8th century AD and was founded by Raja Surajesan, and today it is know for its historic value, monuments, places and temples. It is said that the city was named after a saint "Gwalipa" who cured King Surajesan's deadly disease.

    Gwalior is famed for its glorious structures like rock temples, statues, mosques and its glorious tradition. Gwalior is mentioned in books as the birth place of great musician Tansen who was one of the navratna's of Great Mugal Emperor Akbar.


    Gwalior fort is one of the biggest forts in India and is known as Pearl in the Necklace of Forts, this fort is situated on an isolated rock and entire Gwalior city can be seen from here.

    Gwalior Fort seems to be the only major attraction and that is one reason why Gwalior doesn't get much tourists. I also dont like the road once you cross Agra. It would be nice to see it once though and I might do this time when we go for the Khajuraho temples.

    OK then let's make it Khujuraho n Gwalior this time. I think Khajuraho is pending from long time now.

    Yeh lets do that. Do you remember last time we were going to Khajuraho and dropped the idea while passing Agra and went to Fatehpur sikri instead?
