Ooty is one of the best hill stations present in South India. The name blue mountain may be given due to tw reasons, one being because of the blue smaoky haze that is let out from the eucalyptus trees that spread widely around the area and the other being because of a particular flower known as the Kurinji flower that blooms only once in every twelve years. In the hill slopes of this region various tea, chinchona and teak trees have been established. The various flavors of tea present here has become of the main business over here. Various medicinal herbs are also grown in this region.

It is a place famous for its resorts which are aptly suiting the tourists. There are a large number of view points, which are ideal places for photography. The Eucalyptus oil is another special feature of this hill station. It relieves our body from cold, headache etc. It is of good medicinal value. There are several tourist spots such as the Botanical Garden which is a spectacular place to see all the rare species of flora. The Ooty lake covers 65 acres and offers boating services to the tourists. The Stone house, Toda Huts and Ooty mountain railways are several other tourism places. Ooty is thus one of the best chil-out places in South India.
