    Rameswaram: Varanasi of South

Rameswaram is considered as one of the holiest places in India for the Hindus. Located in the Ramanathpuram District of Tamil Nadu, Rameswaram is a small island in the Gulf of Mannar. It is connected to the mainland by the Pamban Channel. You can reach Rameswaram from Mandapam which is about 22 Km from Rameswaram. Many Temples are situated in the Holy town Rameswaram. The main Temple is the Ramanathaswamy Temple, which is famous for its long corridor. The corridor in this Temple is 197 metres long from East to West and 133 Metres wide from North to South and it is the longest Temple corridor in the World. Apart from Ramanathaswamy Temple, other Temples to be visited are Sugreevar Temple, Satchi Hanuman Temple, Five faced Hanuman Temple, Badrakaliamman Temple etc.

Apart from Temples, Rameswaram also has many Tourist Spots. Some never miss ones are Dhanushkodi: The southern most tip of the Island where the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal can be seen running adjacent. Kurusadai Island: A series of Islands which serves as a paradise for Biologists. Ariyaman beach: A gentle and calm Beach.
