Some tips before traveling to Rishikesh

I am an retired Indian living in UK and want to spend few days in my native country and I am planning to spend most of the time in religious places doing some meditation and yoga. I lived all my life in UK and don't have much practical knowledge about Indian places so will be very thankful if you can help me plan my trip.

*All what I need in Rishikesh is a hygienic accommodation (modern facilities like TV, Air conditioning, internet are not required), I will prefer it near to river Ganges from where I can hear the river in morning and can go to my yoga classed walking all the way.
*Must visit temples, ghats and places with religious values.

    Any recommendations on the above?

    Welcome to India Travel Forum

As you said that you are not looking for any modern facilities like TV, internet and all so it clears that you don't want to stay in a hotel, in this case it would be better for you to look for some ashram in Rishikesh as most of the ashrams are situated on the bank of river Ganga.

Some other benefits you will get if you choose ashram to stay:

You can get time to socialize with number of other travelers during morning and evening prayers
You can get pure veg food prepared in the kitchen of ashram
There are many ashrams which provide Yoga and Meditation classes in there premises so need not to go out
Evening guided tours on the bank of ganga can be availed
Ashrams are much more safer when compared with other places maintained by locals.
