    Things to do in Rishikesh

    Hi

I will be in Rishikesh for a 3 days and till now I have no idea what all I can explore there or what activities are available there, I will be traveling with one of my friend from Germany and both of us are on the same boat, even he doesn't know what all we can do there. Basic purpose of our visit is to know and understand Hindu religion and to see Holy Ganges.

Can anyone advise some good things to do in Rishikesh and is it a good time to visit? Also would it be worth visiting Haridwar too?

    Hi Capt.

As you want to know more about Indian culture and Hindu religion so the best place for you to visit would be
Gita Bhavan: It provides all the information about all Hindu gods and characters, got number of old paintings and scripts there. I am sure its gonna give you a good understand of Hindu religion and a life time experience too.
You may go for Bungy Jumping too which is not very far from Rishikesh, please check this thread: Bungy Jumping in Rishikesh
River Rafting in Shivpuri can add excitement and fun to your trip, its just 20 minutes drive from Rishikesh.
Neer Garh waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfall in India and it covers over 3km area, you can go there to observe the peaceful environment and surroundings.
Camping at Muni ki Reti is another good thing which you can enjoy, these are clear sand beaches where you can spend a night with really good food, music and bonfire.
Can take refreshing evening walk at Laxman Jhula and may take a holy dip in Ganges, its one of the most holy shrine.

If you like then you can make a trip to Haridwar during evening hours to witness Ganga Aarti at Har ki Paudi
