Online booking for ranthambore
Hi ITF
I am planing to visit Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (Ranthambore National Park) in few days and want to book my travel in advance, but some of my friends have suggested me not to book anything in advance as you never know what you will get there in real. Can somebody suggest me is it good to book my travel online or should I go there and look for last minute bookings.
Also, can you suggest best time to visit and which what all can I expect there?

Hi Mate
Ranthambore is around 380kms (236 miles) from Delhi and it takes around 8 hours to reach, the nearest railway station is Sawai Madhopur (SWM) which is around 10 kms (20 minutes) away from Ranthambore. I would like to tell you that the park is closed till 30th September (park remains closed from 1st July to 30th September due to heavy rain). There is a limited number of Jeeps and Canters which go inside for Safari (14 Jeeps and 20 Canters) so its better to book it online and not to wait for last minute.
Charges for Ranthambore Tiger Reserve
Entry fee: INR. 25 for Indians and INR. 200 for foreign nationals
Camera: There are no charges to carry still camera but for camcorder/video camera there is an additional charge of INR. 200 (same for Indians and foreign nationals)

Tips for Tiger Safari
* Carry ID proof (passport, driving license etc.) as you need to submit one at the time of receiving boarding pass.
* Be advised that all the vehicles (Canters and Jeeps) are open vehicles.
* Every vehicle comes with a driver and guide.
* Stepping out of vehicle or walking is not allowed.
* Wear light colours like green, brown, grey, mud or camouflage. Bright and tangy colours really disturb animals and they don't like those shiny things.
* Carry water with yourself as you will not buy it inside the reserve.
* Apply sunscreen or any cream on your body to avoid direct contact with sun.
* Smoking is not allowed in reserve so do not carry your cigarettes and lighters as they will be trashed during security check (which you do not get back once thrown in trash bin).
* Entering park in influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited.
Shout back if I missed something or if you need more information.
